Burwood Child Care Centre

Project Snapshot

Building a childcare centre that meets the needs of a contemporary lifestyle requires specialist knowledge and ample experience. VDG has a proven track record for delivering safe and exciting facilities for families across Victoria, and this Burwood Child Care Centre is no exception.

After identifying a lack of early education facilities in the Burwood region, VDG worked with Whitehorse City Council, the Victorian Government and Amiga Montessori to acquire a suitable site, maximise the construction potential, and finalise a design that balanced functionality and aesthetics.

Situated 15-minutes from the world-class Chadstone Shopping Centre and on a high exposure corner, this state-of-the-art facility now caters to more than 70 children. The two-storey building offers three childcare rooms, a commercial kitchen, laundry, three office areas, a meeting room, staff retreat and 16 car parks. While each space is unique in design, every room is characterised by natural light, open-plan layouts, child-safe fit-outs and an exemplary safety standard.

A bright yet simple palette was selected for the facade, evoking a sense of fun while still integrating with the surroundings. This inviting ambience continues into the outdoor areas, with lush greenery, playground equipment and a mixture of different materials used. Coloured shade sails and canopy trees protect against the sun, while the herb planter boxes and native vegetation encourage interactive play between the children, supporting their personal growth and social skill development.

Built with a clear plan for education and individualised learning, this Burwood Child Care Centre reinforces VDG’s exemplary reputation for constructing purpose-built facilities across Victoria.

Project Vision

Voce Development Group (VDG) appreciates the relationship between a physical environment and a child’s personal development. After securing a slice of prime real estate in a highly-sought-after Victorian suburb, the VDG team poured their energy into creating a design that supported creative play, interactive education and one-on-one care for every child.

While the unique needs of this young demographic were the primary focus, VDG was also conscious of delivering a property that was practical and inviting for early education professionals too. In balancing the diverse needs of these two groups, the site is zoned into sectors, including areas individualised for different age groups and space for the supervising carers to retreat throughout the day.

As demand for childcare services continues to grow, parents are increasingly conscious of finding a service provider that is conveniently located and moulds around their busy professional lives. VDG acknowledged this growing demand by securing a highly visible address in a blue-chip location and partnering with an established childcare provider to boost brand awareness. Being located within close proximity to local amenities also safeguards the long-term rental prospects of the site.

This Burwood Childcare Centre is a place that evokes lifelong memories, personal growth and an uncomplicated childhood for Victorian families. It’s a space that will welcome children for years to come and meet the needs of our contemporary lifestyles.
